The Gahan House Pub Brewery & Mercantile
The Gahan House Pub and Brewery is located at 126 Sydney Street, in Historic Downtown Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada. In the mid 19th century, John Gahan was a prominent merchant and an importer of teas, wines, and family groceries in Charlottetown. He lived at 126 Sydney Street, in a wooden house but replaced the residence with a mansard-roofed brick one in 1880. In 1922, The Gahan House became the property of the Roman Catholic Episcopal Corporation and was used as a convent until the 1960s. In the last quarter century, The Gahan House was used as a boarding house. The Gahan Brewery (formerly known as Murphy's Brewing Co.) was established in March 1997, at 449 University Avenue. Due to increased popularity of the beer, we relocated and renamed the brewery in November of 2000, doubling it's production capacity and giving it a permanent home in Old Charlottetown in the Gahan House. The Gahan Brewery is the only brewery on Prince Edward Island. Our Brewmaster, Trent Hayes, is available if you want a tour of the Brewery or if you have any questions about our beer.
The Gahan House Pub and Brewery is one of Charlottetown's favorite places to get together. Our Manager, Eddie Francis and our Chef Dwayne MacLeod invite you for lunch or dinner! It is here, at The Gahan House, that you will find the wonderful daily specials that Chef Dwayne creates with his team, ensuring for you a great mixture of pub-favorites, traditional Island meals, and entrees.
